Alfa Laval X series decanters are designed to optimize the cost / performance ratio in the olive oil supply chain. Compact and efficient, they are designed for the olive oil extraction process, including clarification, extraction, dehydration for both first and second extraction
Design features and benefits
The decanters are equipped with a special system called variable dynamic pressure (VDP). The geometry of the drum and auger allows the solid parts to be subjected to high pressure before unloading, thus making them particularly dry. Through the electronic control of the auger speed (differential speed), it is possible to adjust the pressure level and set it in order to obtain the required degree of dryness.
The same decanter can be used for both operations, two-phase and three-phase, depending on the differences in relative density. In three-phase operation, the particular characteristics of the drum geometry make it possible to use the so-called ARA system. This system controls the specific regulation of the liquid level in the decanter, which optimizes oil quality and water consumption.
The greater clarity of the separated oil during the three-step process can be achieved by adding less dilution water. This ensures higher oil quality and lower water consumption. For the same reason, all components are made of AISI 316 stainless steel including the drum covers. Special cover hinges facilitate opening, maintenance and cleaning. The decanters are also equipped with an electronic or mechanical overload protection system.
